Police arrest five suspected rapists in Jigawa
The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspected rapists at the Jahun Local Government Area of the state.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a copy of which was made available to The Picshitz on Tuesday night.
According to the statement, the arrested suspects were Aliyu Sani, 50, Rabi’u Ibrahim, 45, Idris Haruna, 38, Hussain Mato, 32, and Rabi’u Inuwa, 50.
“On 8/7/2023 a 14-year-old girl, went out to hawk Tofu (Awara), in the process, one Aliyu Sani, 50, lured the girl into the room of one Rabiu Ibrahim, 45, all of Jahun LGA and both had carnal knowledge of her,” the statement said.
The statement revealed further that all the suspects and the victim were taken to Sexual Assault Referral Center Dutse for medical examination and in the course of examination, one of the suspects (name withheld) was confirmed HIV positive while another suspect tested positive for hepatitis.
The police spokesman added that the suspects would be soon arraigned in court.
