I will replicate my achievements as governor if appointed minister: Wike
Appearing before the Senate on Monday afternoon, Rivers state ex-governor, Nyesom Wike, said his great accomplishments leading the oil-rich state between 2015 and 2023 would be replicated if confirmed as a minister under the Bola Tinubu administration.
Mr Tinubu, last Friday, nominated Mr Wike and 27 others for ministerial appointments and submitted their names to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
Mr Wike, speaking to the Senate on Monday, bragged about the projects he executed while serving as governor.
“It is on record in this country, everybody will attest to the fact that I changed the landscape of Port-Harcourt. In four years, I constructed 12 flyovers. In four years,” bragged Mr Wike while raising four fingers for emphasis.
Mr Wike promised to give Mr Tinubu the support needed for his administration to be a success and that the president would never regret nominating him.
“I thank Mr President for nominating me. I believe, knowing how hungry Mr President is to solving the problems of Nigeria, we have no choice but to give him that required support. And I can assure you, if I am confirmed in whatever capacity, Mr President will not regret nominating me,” promised the ex-governor.
Mr Wike, a former minister of state for education under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, is the only member of the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to cop a ministerial nomination.
